Infused water is one of the simplest wellness habits to adopt and one of the most effective. No added sugar, no calories, no effort: it transforms daily hydration into a wellbeing ritual and delivers precious micronutrients with every sip. Here are the four recipes Rebecca San recommends to her clients.
01 — Lemon — Ginger — Mint Detox · Anti-inflammatory Ingredients for 1 litre: ½ organic lemon in rounds · 4 to 5 slices fresh ginger · 8 to 10 fresh mint leaves · 1 litre filtered water Benefits: Lemon gently alkalises the pH and provides vitamin C. Ginger is one of the most well-documented natural anti-inflammatories it reduces joint pain, stimulates circulation and supports the immune system. Mint relaxes the smooth digestive muscles and relieves bloating. Together, they form the most complete and accessible detox recipe. Tip: Prepare it the evening before and leave to infuse overnight in the refrigerator. The taste will be more pronounced and the active compounds better extracted. Drink on an empty stomach in the morning to maximise the detox effect.
02 — Cucumber — Mint — Lime Freshness · Skin · Digestion Ingredients for 1 litre: ½ organic cucumber in thin rounds · 10 fresh mint leaves · ½ lime in rounds · 1 litre filtered water Benefits: Cucumber is 96% water and naturally rich in silica a mineral essential to the production of skin collagen and the strength of nails and hair. Lime provides vitamin C and antioxidant flavonoids. Mint stimulates bile production and facilitates the digestion of fats. This is the most refreshing water ideal under the Caribbean sun or after a workout. Tip: Do not leave to infuse for more than 12 hours beyond that, the cucumber skin can make the water slightly bitter. Drink well-chilled, within 24 hours.
03 — Strawberry — Basil Glow · Antioxidant · Collagen Ingredients for 1 litre: 8 to 10 fresh strawberries halved · 6 to 8 fresh basil leaves · 1 litre filtered water · optional ice cubes Benefits: Strawberries are among the fruits richest in vitamin C (59 mg per 100g) and ellagitannins powerful polyphenols that protect skin collagen from oxidation and limit the effects of cellular ageing. Basil provides linalool (a calming effect on the nervous system) and natural antibacterial properties. This is the ultimate glow water it works from within to protect and illuminate the skin. Tip: This water is perfect for presentation at brunch or a terrace meal. Add a few edible flowers (pansies, borage) for a refined visual effect. Consume within 24 hours.
04 — Hibiscus — Rose Serenity · Blood Pressure · Antioxidant Ingredients for 1 litre: 2 tbsp dried hibiscus flowers · 1 tsp pure rose water · 1 litre hot (not boiling) water · optional honey or agave syrup Benefits: Hibiscus is one of the plants richest in vitamin C and anthocyanins antioxidant pigments that give the infusion its deep red colour. Clinical studies have shown that regular consumption of hibiscus moderately helps regulate blood pressure. Rose water, rich in geraniol, has calming properties on the nervous system and improves sleep quality when consumed in the evening. This is the most sophisticated of the four its natural colour makes it a drink in its own right. Tip: Leave the hibiscus flowers to infuse for 10 minutes in hot water, strain, then add the rose water once cooled. Serve warm in the evening for optimal calming effect. Can also be drunk cold it takes on a beautiful ruby colour.
The Golden Rules of Infused Water Always choose organic fruit and vegetables, or wash them thoroughly before use pesticide residues dissolve in the infusing water. Use filtered or spring water for optimal taste. Do not sweeten: the goal is to get used to the natural flavour of the ingredients, which becomes increasingly pleasant over time. These four recipes integrate perfectly into the 2-Litre-a-Day Challenge — they make the daily hydration goal not only achievable, but genuinely desirable.
